Chinese Temperature Data Now Tainted

Douglas Keenan

Introduction

In early August 2007, UK statistician Douglas Keenan filed a report with the University at Albany, State University of New York, in which he alleged that some of the research published by Professor Wei-Chyung Wang was based on fabricated claims. That report, which cites the evidence in support of Keenan's claims is presented here as a PDF file, with a two-page introduction by The Lavoisier Group's Secretary, Ray Evans. The PDF may be downloaded here.

Keenan also maintains a Website which provides further context, including an account of the difficulties he faced obtaining data and some correspondence of interest. Updated periodically, the Website is well worth a visit. The address is: http://www.informath.org/apprise/a5620.htm

As he concludes on his Website, in the light of the fraud he has alleged:

First, there has been a marked lack of integrity in some important work on global warming that is relied upon by the IPCC. Second, the insignificance of urbanization effects on temperature measurements has not been established as reliably as the IPCC assessment report assumes.
